The British Association of Cognitive Neuroscience (BACN) is a leading focal point for cognitive neuroscience researchers in the UK at all career stages. Founded in 1973 as the British Psychophysiological Society and renamed BACN in 2005, the association promotes awareness of the latest research and methodologies through its annual conference, Early and Mid-Career Prizes, and a mission to advance cognitive neuroscience for the benefit of society.
BACN uses cutting-edge methods including brain imaging, electrophysiology, and brain stimulation to understand essential functions of the human mind—perception, language, memory, attention, and decision-making—in both health and pathology. The UK hosts some of the world's leading cognitive neuroscience research, and BACN serves as its principal professional community.
